Amenábar, the Spanish Mastermind

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite film-directors, Alejandro Amenábar, probably the best Spanish film director alive with Almodóvar. He is also a screen-play writer and a composer. He had won one Oscar’s awards for “Mar Adentro”, a real life story about the tetraplegic Ramón Sampedro (played by Javier Bardem), also he had won nine Goya’s awards . He made Thesis, his first important film when he was 23 years old, a psychological thriller. “Abre los ojos” was his second movie and was a huge success in Spain, in my opinion “Abre los ojos” is his masterpiece, with an exceptional Eduardo Noriega and Penelope Cruz. This film had a Hollywood remake called Vanilla sky, not as good as the original one. In 2001 he released his best known film The Others, starring Nicole Kidman. Although his lasts films were not what the audience expected. He usually does in his films twisted finals where spectators are surprised for this unsuspected turn of the plot. He is a young director with incredible and breathtaking movies.

Punk Rock / Classical Music

Punk rock and classical music are different styles of music, listened by different type of people. First of all, both are music styles. Punk rock has a harder style, and classical music with a softer way of doing music. On the one hand, we have Punk rock that uses guitars, drums, basses, microphones, and like in classical music, Punk rock may sometimes have a keyboard. On the other hand we have Classical music more melodic and softer than Punk, also Classical music  uses another kind of instruments like violins, double basses, violoncellos, trumpets, etc. Punk rock fashion and behavior isn’t the same as classical music, Punk rock musicians have a casual look with jeans, strange hair styles, bizarre behaviors, etc. Classical music musicians are more formal, with suits, quieter behavior. Band names from Punk rock are much different from Classical music bands names. However, Punk or Classical are both after all music.

Mistreated animals

First of all, I have to say that I’m completely against this mistreat that sadly is very common nowadays. Despite of all the animal protective, and all the “protection” animals should have. It’s not just the particular mistreat in private, there is a public mistreat that is a tradition. The mistreat is done to the bulls, in Bullfighting or the folkloric festival called “Toro de la Vega” where the cruelty goes to the extreme, they hunt and kill the bull with spears. It is supposed to be a public interest festival. I have increased my sensitivity against the animal mistreat since I have my dog. Al though have suffered the animal abuse, and there more and more dogs abandoned because their owners are reckless and unresponsive with the dogs, we must help these dogs , and make them have a better with someone who is going to love him more. We must stop this senseless mistreat, animals deserve to live a better life and we are not doing this possible.

"Día de los muertos"

The day of the dead is a popular Mexican Holiday; it is celebrated also in other places from South America. In this holiday people commemorate, remember and also pray for their ancestors who have died.  This holiday is celebrated during the 1ª and 2ª of October, also in Spain we have a similar holiday called “El Día de Todos los Santos” but it’s not as important in Spain as in Mexico. A well-known figure from the day of the dead is Catrina,  all kind of skull is normal on this day too. This day instead of being a sad is a day of happiness and celebration, so all of these facts make The Day of the Dead an unusual and fantastic Holiday. I hope I can go someday; it would be a great experience to go there and live it.
